This is me (Anita) ministering to Kierra Sheard’s “Free”. The song is speaking of letting go of things that aren’t of God. If there is something you need to let go of please do. There is something greater in store, but you have to let go of the other things to receive the great things of God!
As a young woman of African descent who is growing up in America I have come to know that my people have a rich history. We have a rich history not only here in America, but in Africa as well. We contributed to most of what America stands for and we continue to contribute.
I couldn’t help but think about the above when I read Our Daily Bread this morning. The scripture talks about how the children of Israel and how they had had the history of their ancestors as a guide. Then the writer of the message says that we have the bible as a guide for our living. The bible is the guide as Christians as to how we should live our life. We use it as an example as to what pleases God and what doesn’t please Him.
So as a young Christian woman of African descent, I have both the bible and the history of my people to guide me through life. I am thankful for the past becasue without it I wouldn’t be present.
Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses
your understanding.
Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its
heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain.
And could you keep your heart in wonder at the
daily miracles of your life, your pain would not seem
less wondrous than your joy;
And you would accept the seasons of your heart,
even as you have always accepted the seasons that
pass over your fields.
And you would watch with serenity through the
winters of your grief.
Much of your pain is self-chosen.
It is the bitter potion by which the physician within
you heals your sick self.
Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy
in silence and tranquillity:
For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by
the tender hand of the Unseen,
And the cup he brings, though it burn your lips, has
been fashioned of the clay which the Potter has
moistened with His own sacred tears.
I had the pleasure of meeting and spending the day with Ms. Sheryl Lee Ralph. She was so down to earth and welcoming. The event was hosted by my church, Grant AME Church in Boston. It was for the AIDS memorial quilt. This quilt is made in rememberance of friends and loved ones we lost to the struggle against HIV/AIDS. Here is a link to more information about the quilt http://www.aidsquilt.org/ and more information on how Ms. Ralph is combating the fight against HIV/AIDS http://www.thedivafoundation.org/. Please feel free to click the links and get more information on the quilt and how you can help fight the fight against HIV/AIDS!
I am somebody.
